A beautiful Monarch Butterfly that I pinned myself. This butterfly was locally sourced from the Monarch Research Center in Cedar Rapids! I hand-converted this secondhand frame into a shadow box, switched out the backing, sealed it, and painted the entire piece. This specimen is missing an antennae– evidence of a full life lived!
